We take our role as an industry leader on ecologically sustainable development seriously, which is why we invest in initiatives to improve sustainability and waste management on all of our building and development projects.

Construction

Hindmarsh is a Member of the Green Building Council of Australia, with a number of staff qualified as Green Star professionals.

We have raised the benchmark for excellence in green building in Australia, building a portfolio of 5 and 6 Star energy efficient commercial developments including the Australian National University's Frank Fenner Building which received 6 Star Green Star certification for both design and construction and is officially the 'greenest' building in the ACT. Innova 21, the University of Adelaide’s $100 million building for the Faculty of Engineering, Computer & Mathematical Science was awarded 6 Star Green Star Education (V1) rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

Development

In the residential and retirement development sectors, Green Building initiatives include investigating the use of advanced technologies for our residential apartment and retirement developments, including solar cell solar electricity generation, heat pumps for heating and cooling, greywater recycling, extra low power LED and fluorescent lighting technologies.
