Old Parliament House Gardens Reconstruction

The $9.6M Old Parliament House Gardens Reconstruction was a nationally significant project, as the gardens had been the exclusive domain of parliamentarians and their staff. This had been the case for 60 years prior to being opened to the public for their ongoing use ans visitation.

The gardens are divided in to four clearly defined areas reflecting the operations of Parliament (the House of Representatives and Senate Gardens) and milestones throughout history that contributed to the foundation of the Australian Government (Magna Carta Place and Constitution Place).

Within the gardens the Women's Suffrage Commemorative Fountain and the Suffrage Walk recognise the achievments of women in both Federal Parliament and the obtaining of voting rights in Australia.
